Rebels at the Senior Bowl

Peria Jerry, Mike Oher, Ashlee Palmer and Mike Wallace all represented the Rebs in last night's Senior Bowl. The South handily defeated the North (TSWRA whooooooo!) to the tune of 35-18. Mike Wallace pulled in a 39 yard touchdown pass from West Virginia's Pat White and Peria Jerry recovered a Rhett Bomar fumble in the North endzone for 6. According to our Senior Bowl correspondents, Oher was good for the most part except for a holding call and Palmer had very few if any opportunities to make a play on defense. They also told us that Mobile is scary with all of the drunks, hurricanes, and Leprechauns hiding in strategic-ass trees.

Also, did everybody else know before last night that Mike Wallace was going to be in this game, or am I just out of the loop? He definitely improved whatever draft stock he had.

Rebel Roundup: Accolades and a Huge (get it?) Loss

Three Rebels selected to play in the Under Armour Senior Bowl - Michael Oher, Peria Jerry, and Ashlee Palmer have been selected to play in the Senior Bowl which will air on the NFL Network on Saturday, January 24. In all, 22 players representing the SEC will be a part of the bowl. I'm not really sure how the whole thing lines up (North vs. South?), but if Oher gets the golden opportunity to "accidentally" not block Jerry and/or Palmer when they come on the blitz against John Parker Wilson or Graham Harrell I'd be incredibly amused. As you may recall, the last Rebel to be selected for the Senior Bowl was Patrick Willis, whose Senior Bowl highlights can be seen here.

Marshay Green named to ESPN.com's All-Bowl Team - Citing his Pick-six and shoulda-been-a-touchdown punt return, ESPN's Mark Schlabach has selected Marshay Green as one of the bowl season's best cornerbacks. We at the Cup have said it before, and we'll say it again: Green and Dexter McCluster are, pound-for-pound, the toughest "lil bastids" in the SEC.

Tracy Rocker to be named DL coach at Auburn - I'm certain that this isn't new news to most of you, but Tracy Rocker is heading to his alma mater to coach. I personally can't blame the guy. He obviously still has strong feelings for Auburn and they're offering to him an incredible amount of money for a position coach (rumored to be upwards of $400,000). For him, the decision was an easy one to make. Best of luck to you, Coach Rocker.... unless it's against the Rebs.

Hooray for Mediocrity

The Ole Miss Rebels managed to be one of the last 18 teams playing in college basketball this season as they advanced to the Final Four in the prestigious National Invitation Tournament. Unfortunately for the Rebs, they ran into some stiff competition in New York, themselves. Themselves disrupted the Rebels offensively which led to their dismal shooting in the first half and gave the Rebels a 27 point deficit. Themselves also forced 20 turnovers and themselves' lack of effort on the defensive side of the ball allowed Ole Miss to be out rebounded by 5.

Still, Ole Miss received solid contribution from DAHVEED Huertas who had a solid night from beyond the three point line and Chris Warren who delivered 19 points.

Rebel senior Dwayne Curtis went out in style with a 5-13 night from the floor with a 2-6 performance from the line, way to lead your team to vic...oops, nevermind DC.

When asked about the performance of the team Andy Kennedy set the record for most consecutive obscenities before concluding that, "It was just a shame Jamont Gordon and Charles Rhodes could not have made an impact for this team."
