Auburn University has announced that they are hiring Iowa State head football coach Gene Chizik to replace Tommy Tuberville. This is spectacular.
How do you fire a coach with Tubbs' track record in the SEC for a single down year (when his team went 5-7) and then turn around and hire a coach whose head coaching credits include only a 3-9 season and a 2-10 season? Tommy Tuberville is one of the top fifteen coaches in the country. It blows my mind.
I expect this to splinter the fan base a good bit. We'll get Rodney Scott and probably Raymond Cotton now. That's exciting.
Don't expect Auburn to be competitive next season. They'll have coaching that is significantly worse with a roster that's not significantly better. Good job Auburn administration. You did something I didn't think was possible. You showed Ole Miss fans that there is at least one school in the country with an AD that satisfies their fans less than ours does.

Yeah, I'll agree with you there. Chizik is a horrible hire. As an ISU fan, I've been more than a little dismayed at how bad the program suffered under him.
I like the tag for that, by the way. Though I don't think Chizik is likely to rip his shirt off...
how come tubs name hasnt come up for any of the coaching vacancies?
Tuby is supposedly sitting out a year while he counts his 6 million, kind of like this http://cache.kotaku.com/assets/resources/2008/04/scrooge_mcduck.jpg
He'll definitely go somewhere next year. I suspect he wants to get his divorce before he signs a new contract in order to avoid paying half to his bitch.
not because of the divorce. alimony can be increased/decreased long after the divorce.
he would likley pay her a lump sum to avoid such.
he looks tired. probably needs a year off, and, if he likes the TV gigs he will get, he may never come back.
Who's the happiest man in Alabama right now, Tommy Tuberville or Nick Saban?
Saban already had the recruiting structure leaning strongly in his favor after last year, even if Tommy was coming on stronger this time around.
My questions are, how does this hire keep an even keel with the recruiting efforts of the presently employed staff? Are they staying?(highly doubtful) If not, then why are they still recruiting?
Wouldn't a potential recruit want to know if the guy recruiting him was going to be there next season? Will Chizik even be there next season, because something bigger is currently brewing in the pot? Maybe someone whos contract is exspiring in '09 is the real prize their after, depending on how easy buying Chizik out of his newly signed contract is for Mr. Louder.
Thanks Auburn. Your administration, along with "Mr. Money Bags Louder", have impecable timing and the rest of the SEC should be very, very happy for your efforts.
"louder"
idiot.
Let me guess. You can only be an idiot in Mississippi if you spell someones last name with a capitol letter.
Gonzo, eat a dick. I'd rather burn in hell than live for a day in Arkansas. Imagine a state full of pieces of trash like you walking around.
Hell on Earth? I'd imagine so.
Gonzo,
The Capitol (with an "O") is a building. A capital (with an "A") letter is one used in English primarily to denote the beginning of a sentence and/or a proper noun.
Go ahead and jot this down and keep it in your book of RSC grammar and spelling lessons. They'll serve you well in the future.
Thanks guys, for looking that up in the dictionary. I just don't know how I could live without Ole Miss grammer school.
I really admire you guys. I really do.
One day you'll be leaders in my beloved country.
