A question for the readers
Some of us are thinking about putting advertisements on the blog. This would hopefully enable us to earn just enough money to purchase and maintain Red[REDACTED]Cup.com. If we were to do this they would look somewhat like the ads on these sports blogs.

do it
Whatever. It wouldn't kill me.
I don't think that would be a problem.
feel free, didn't even know they were on those sites
Go for it. I was just wondering yesterday why you didn't have them already. Make sure to get that snorgtees ad from deepsouthsports.net.
I'm fine with it, just no screen pop-ups and no sound, I'll be fine.
Oh we're definitely not doing it if it makes noise. We hate that garbage just as much as anyone else. We'll pick the most subtle option possible.
My friend Dub Miller always said that entertainment is a fine balance between art and commerce. If you enjoy your art you want to do just enough commerce to keep doing your art. So do whatever you need to do to pay for this. Hell put a little money in your pocket. Ads don't bother me. People should be used to that shit by now.
THIS IS TRUE LUNACY! Here I was thinking I could read my fav blog without having to sift through the corporate bullshit! Why don't you just go ahead and sell your soul to Wal-Farts you pigs!
J/K.....you guys should totally go for it! I love you all!
Fuck You, Really Fuck You. If you put Ads on this site I will never visit again.
I wonder how often people see an ad for... a good credit card you can apply for online... and actually click those things. I'm proud to say that I have never clicked a single advertisement online.

People click on ads they give a sh*t about. You don't care about credit cards, so you don't click
Dear Ghost of Jay -- If you want to talk about ads, shoot me a note. I can tell you what you might expect...if you haven't already been told.
Short answer -- You make a few bucks to offset some cost associated with being a fan. But not enough to pay for the time you invest in the site. Unless you're Orson Swindle or Will Leitch...there's no serious cash.
My email is in my profile on my site. Happy to talk specifics if you're interested. Orson helped me out that way. So I'm happy to return the favor to others.
Good luck man.

Well, according to Anon 3:23, commercializing your site will cause you to lose approximately 20% of your readership...if that's the case, I'd say the costs outweigh the benefits.
