Generally, we are the "authors" of "content" around here - "here" being a blog and not a message board. Recognize, we do, that you've come here not to contribute, but to consume. Nevertheless, there is the sporadic occasion where, either for our benefit or for to exercise the thinkifiers of the masses, we ask you a question. Today's question is ...
You can have one but only one. Would you have the president of your choice in 2008 or an SEC Championship in 2008?
As Ole Miss fans are well aware, four years is not absolutely unbearable. Sure, someone might get fired at the end of the term, but Vaught-Hemingway Stadium was not and the country will likely not be destroyed after four years in the wilderness.
So, Rebels, the debate starts here. What's more important? Country or football? My rationale (and, please, if you meet John McCain, just leave this out): I might not ever get tickets to the White House, but I can dang sure get tickets to the Sugar Bowl.

Call me superficial....SEC Championship.
I'm an avid Ole Miss fan (and alum), and I enjoy your blog, think it's highly well done.
But regarding your question, anyone who would seriously pick a SEC championship over his/her choice for leader of our country has his/her priorities way out of whack.
I'd pick the Presidential choice, thank you.
(Besides...we're going to win the SEC during this next President's term anyhow.)
Without hesitation, SEC Championship.
We don't live in a dictatorship. No president can do TOO much damage in four years. We're not dealing with utter good or evil in presidential choices, so the country can take it.
We are, however, dealing with pure evil if LSWho wins another SEC Championship. I'm excited just thinking about winning one.....
I'd take an SEC Championship right now. However, I don't think this is a good enough question. In fact, I'd say it's too easy.
Better question would be, would you spend 5 years in the Middle East for an SEC title? That might make it a tough decision.
With no hesitation- SEC Championship.
We haven't won a championship since I've been alive. If my choice doesn't win and screws up the country, we can always elect somebody else in four years.
Wait, should I assume we can only pick one of the two candidates from a major party this year, or like a no - holds barred crazy fest where I could legitimately make, I don't know, George Washington rise from the dead and be president again?
Either way, I'd probably take the Championship. But the latter scenario would give me reason to debate it a little longer.
SEC Championship
Congress is where the power is anyway. It wasn't like Bush went to Iraq on his own; he had their permission. They're just as much to blame for screwing stuff up. There's greater likelihood that the Johnny Rebs make it to Atlanta than there is that 485 people will get it so horribly wrong again, regardless of who the next prez is.
So I'll take an ESS EEE SEE Championship, please.
Seriously, God... please... please... please...
i'd take the million dollars...
wait, what?
Presidential choice. I obv. support McCain-Palin (hawt!), but if Senator Obama gets elected, you can be assured a surge of donations to the UMAA to gain tax-deductible credits.
Ennh?
Is this even a question? SEC Championship in a Reagan-Mondaleesque landslide.
The truth is there are few differences in the way the two major parties run our country. I'm voting for McCain/Palin, though.
About 3 weeks ago I would have said SEC championship. With the mass rush of people getting behind Palin/McCain, I'm gonna have to go with the Presidential nod. I can't take 4 more years of this shit.
Democrats watch sports?
Yeah, we watch everything but Nascar. We're not into Busch Light and fat chicks.
Suger Bowl?? What skool did you attend?
Fixed.
Good gravy, Ivory. Get it together.
Dammit, Yancy, I told you to stop hacking onto my profile and getting all up in my internetz.
Presidents are in office for 4-8 years...
Championships last a lifetime.
"Yeah, we watch everything but Nascar. We're not into Busch Light and fat chicks."
This had me laughing my ass off in psychology class.
With less hesitation than JimHalpert --- SEC Championship
I wouldn't mind if Hitler was President if we won an SEC title.
edit: *435 and/or 535
I was going to be responsible and say president, but just reading Sugar Bowl gives me chills.
Go Rebs!
