Just in case anyone was curious, the Red [REDACTED] Cup does not and will likely never support something as asinine as flying a smack-talkin' banner over Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. Why? Well:
- It's stupid. Just because they did it (to themselves, mind you) doesn't mean that we should.
- I don't care if it's got coach Nutt's blessings. They treated him like garbage so I would expect him to say somewhat crazy, vindictive things about them. Have you listened to the man talk? He's wacky.
- We're 3-4. You don't talk shit when you're 3-4, even if it is to another 3-4 team.
- Just the thought of Ole Miss doing something this juvenile is insanely embarrassing.
- The money raised for this little "project" could do plenty of better things. For example, you could donate to the Basketball Practice Facility. You could donate to the University's general scholarship fund. You could feed your fat fucking children. The list goes on.
- The plans call for it to say "Ole Miss is NUTTS about Houston." Are you serious? You're going to spend a lot of money on something which is already a bad idea and, just when I thought it couldn't get any lamer, outfit it with a "Nutty" pun? We've been over this shit before; click the tag.
- You think we're crazy? You think LSU is crazy? Try Northwest Arkansas in four days. That will be the craziest Goddamn shit you've ever seen. The zaniest, most delusional fans this side of Tuscaloosa will be as pissed as they've ever been. Why would you want to further incite an already savagely threatening environment?
- I think it's safe to say that an overwhelming majority of Ole Miss fans are NOT in support of this. You may call us "bad" fans for saying that. Nevermind the fact that we run an Ole Miss sports blog and know more about football than you anyway, we don't like your shitty banner so we're "bad" Rebels.
Having that been said, Arkansas hate week is on, y'all. If I've got time, my series of the "Arkansas Straw Men" will open today with Straw Man #1: Ole Miss is a talented football team.

There alway's seem's to be a soap opera following around Ole Nutty, and from what I read about his own comments, he fully support's the banner.
It would be safe to say about 80% of Hog fans can't stand this guy and some of the shit he get's himself into.

I believe that "Ole Miss" is a trademark of the University and since company flying the banner over the stadium is an advertising company could those who contributed to the "Advertisement" in turn be sued by the University?

I'll beleive it when I see it. Perhaps you're right and only the jackass fans come onto this blog and talk shit. Only the dumbass, jackass, Ole Miss banner flyers would do that to an Arkansas blog.

You can love Hootie or you can hate him, but one thing you Ole Miss fans are going to find out is that the man absolutely thrives on controversy. He must have it. It is like air to him. If it isn't there, he creates it.
In his short time at Ole Miss, he has already gotten himself in a life or death power struggle with Pete Boone and now, he is encouraging this. I'll bet you just about any amount of money you want to bet that the idea for this came from Nutt himself and was passed down through a crony. Dig deep and you'll find the name Teresa Prewett or maybe a few others at the bottom of this.
"Ole Miss" is not trademarked, in such a clear cut sense like the word "Frisbee" is trademarked. Instead, I believe that "Ole Miss" in the official Ole Miss font/script is trademarked.
So basically, no, they can't be sued. That would be a lot of money just to make a point, not to mention alienate fans (and I'm guessing there are some) who want to see this happen. I just want to beat them with grace; that'll be enough.
The fact that we have even one alumnus who thinks this is a respectable idea makes me ask myself several questions:
1) To whom will the University grant a diploma, and what are the criterion, exactly, to qualify for a degree, intelligence obviously not considered?
2) In conjunction with the previous, have I lowered my standards by allowing myself to, after next May, forever be associated thusly with this idiot through our mutual matriculation at Ole Miss?
3) How does someone acquire so much money having so little sense? What exactly does one do for a living that does not require a brain? Let me help this person: I'm fucking poor. Poor, dammit! So read Point 5, for it is spot-on.
