Draft Stock Rising for Jerry, Palmer; Falling for Oher - Click here, here, and here for some Senior Bowl coverage. As one would expect, Ashlee Palmer and Peria Jerry are ruining whatever poor sons-of-bitches they're up against in the Senior Bowl practices. Unfortunately, Michael Oher hasn't been as impressive. Hopefully Oher will get out of whatever slump he appears to be in.
The Kansas Jayhawks to Highlight the Rebel OOC Schedule in 2009? - We're hearing rumors which would lead us to believe that the Rebels will be playing the Kansas Jayhawks in 2009. If this is indeed true, the matchup will be held in Dallas at the New Cowboys Stadium (is that really what they're calling it?) with a guaranteed payout of $6 million for each team. I know a lot of folks have been hearing that such a matchup would be held against Texas A&M or Colorado, but this matchup makes the most sense. Both teams will be looking to beef up their OOC slate in order to impress the BCS computers and both programs would draw just enough to attract a good TV deal and some serious cash. Bring it on, Big XII.

That article on Oher was written December 5th. I haven't heard anything about his Senior Bowl practices.
6 million EACH? Are you serious? TWICE the Cotton Bowl pot? Yeah right.
Is that bird from the Big X (Red Divison)?
The head scout at NFLDraftScout (CBS affiliate) says Oher has been the most impressive OL he's seen. He's been dominant in practice all week. These guys say he just pushed himself ahead of the guys from Baylor and Virginia.
fbschedules.com seems to think that game in Arlington (presumably to be scheduled for Oct. 3) is to be Arkansas vs. Texas A&M. ... though six mil does seem pretty damn sweet.

$6 million for taking away a home game is not worth it. I know that is a lot of money and probably a good bit more than the University makes in revenues through home games, but I would not want to give up a home game.
For a high profile game(I don't consider Kansas a high profile game), we could probably get 100,000 in town.
The Cup is slippin', Oher article is almost two months old. All the Senior Bowl reports have Oher as a riser that is dispelling those Dec 5 stock reports. He is being helped out because the other two SR OL chose not to participate. Here is a new here link to use, it has Jerry and Oher:

Charles, you are crazy. If you can get a $6 million guarantee, move the damn game to the moon if you have to.
I don't care if you can get 1 million people in Oxford, you're only going to get 62,000 in the stadium.
62,000 x $50 = $3.1 million
Add 50% of that to concessions/merchandise sales (the formula UMAA uses when projecting their budgets) and you're up to $4.65 million.
That's still $1.35 million short of a guarantee.
Now why wouldn't you take such a deal?
And leave the Grove and the Square out of your argument, please.
According to a nameless NFL scout, he believes that Oher "doesn't think that he really wants to play football because he knows he's set even if he doesn't play." Paraphrased, of course.
Take it however you want.
I don't think this should be looked at completely in a quantitative way. Although, if this is a 2 year deal that garuntees $6 million per team each year, then I say take the money and run.
However, if this is a 1 year deal, it only nets us $1 million and some change over what we would get from ticket sales.
You can't say that the Grove and square don't come into play. If I were still a student and they took away a home game, I'd be pissed.
A friend of mine that went to UT Knoxville said that a home game brings in over $20 million revenue to the University and city. Sure they have nearly 40,000 more seats, but if we have a big home game, that is somewhere around 80,000 people coming through town probably(not everyone goes to the game). They're all going to be spending some money. Not all of the money goes directly to the University, but you can garuntee the local bar/restaurant/store owners are big contributors to the University. If they do well, then they will probably donate more. A lot of their profit comes on game weekends.
I don't think you can look at this only in a quantitative way. Plus it's one less weekend for recruits to visit.
Where are you hearing these rumors?
I'm not a huge fan of the neutral site games, but I would love to add an opponent like Ole Miss to next year's schedule and I'd be there in a second.
I personally think Ole Miss v. Kansas this year would be a GREAT game. I went to KU and now live in Jackson, MS. I follow college FB very closely and both teams will be very good next year. Kansas should be the front runner to win the BXII North this year, and return all the offensive play makers including Reesing, Briscoe and Meier. If you haven't sen them play, you're missing true entertainment.
Again, I know Ole Miss will be good. Very good. And I'm very acquainted with Jevan Snead.
I think it truely would be one of the best non-con games of the year.
I know this might be hard to handle for some Oxonians and some Oxford businesspeople, but: Fuck Oxford and Fuck The Square.
Ole Miss Football is about Ole Miss Football. If we can only make $4.65m on a home game and can get $6m to play elsewhere, I think a retard can figure out what the right decision is.
On top of that, I'll believe that we can get 62K for a OOC game when I see it.
It's nothing but a Reality Check. We can't sell out games without the help of opposing fans. If Dallas wants to give us $6m, that's fine with me.
That Oher deal was very misleading, he must be holding his own in Mobile. I realize you guys are not journalist, just trying to gave some fun and provide some info, but it was very misleading that his stock is falling in Mobile. thanks
I find it very hard to believe that a OOC game in October will net two middle of their conference (though winning) teams $6mil each. Neither program has that big of a following. OM still can't sell out their own crappy stadium, and Kansas fans are notorious for not travelling far for away games. If true, both teams should grab this deal with both hands and don't let go....
