Sure there are plenty of applicable chants.
"SEC! SEC! SEC!"
"Ok-la-hoooo-maaaa! Ov-er-ra-ted"*
"Choooooooooooook-lahoma where the wins go to the other team!"**
But, those chants are all a bit overdone. Here, at the Cup, we've come up with this new chant which applicably describes the Oklahoma Sooners as of late.
Ooooook-la-ho-ma is a respectable football program. They've been able to produce some of the NFL's hottest talents and Bob Stoops is surely a capable coach. However, with their recent postseason shortcomings, one must wonder as to how vialbe the claims surrounding not only Oklahoma, but the Big XII at large, truly are. Certainly, excellent collegiate quarterbacks have made Norman their home but where do their true talents lie? Likely not at quarterback as their NFL careers are short and forgettable. But, I digress. Perhaps their conference, the Big XII, has been continuously overestimated by the likes of the national media due totheir poor defensive performances (and subsequently high offensive performances) and "squeaky-clean" coach and player behavior. Unfortunately, with the system of determinging national championships being the way it is, one can no longer reasonably expect the Oklahoma Sooners to be capable of sustainable national success as they are not geographically biased towards overly athletic playes who, even after claiming to play at 90%, still pwn n3wbz.
The SEC is better than you. Get. Over. It.
Drunk and happy. You?

Is there any doubt that Ole Miss, Utah, and USC would all have beaten either team that played tonight?
Is there any doubt that the official who was right in front of the blatant 1st quarter horse-collar (which resulted in a Florida player being carted off the field, but not a 15-yard penalty) should be fired, carted off to Siberia, and forced to officiate Special Needs Curling and Senior Citizen Clothing-Optional Greco-Roman Wrestling?
Is there any doubt that, if Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson isn't available for the next 'Mummy' installment, that Tim Tebow should get a nose ring and take his place?
Is there any doubt that I will enjoy watching MSU's quarterbacks try to execute Dan Mullen's garbage-ass game plans?
Is there any doubt that I should stop writing and starting studying for the test I have in 7 hours?
Is there any doubt that I will play guitar and watch Youtube instead?
Congrats to Florida for securing the Coach's Trophy back in the right corner of America.

I know this much, there have been at least two national champions crowned during my lifetime with only one loss on their record, with that loss being delivered by the Ole Miss Rebels. Notre Dame and Florida. Any others I may be overlooking?
I think that's all of them, Darron. Hopefully next year we'll meet Florida in the SEC Championship and hand them their only loss for a second year straight on our way to the National Championship.

Get real, Roy. You won't catch the Gators sleeping two years in a row, and I promise you they'll make an example of the Rebels and the rest of the SEC next season.
If Tebow comes back, which is likely, they'll be virtually unstoppable, offensively or defensively.
No matter what you witnessed at the end of this season, it doesn't translate into automatic sucsess for next season. Your HC has a proven track record that says so.
Gonzo, sleeping is not the right term at all. The Ole Miss v. Florida game since 2000 has the lowest margin of victory than any other match-up in the conference.
Not only that, of the last 4 games, Ole Miss has won 3 of them. Ole Miss is one of the few teams in the SEC (Georgia being the only other I think) that has a winning record against the Gators.
Oh and we don't play them next year anyway. Unless of course we go to the SEC championship. Any good Rebel fan knows that we have never started and ended the season in the top 25 since the august career of John Vaught. When Kirk Herbstriet said we should be 5th in preseason polls my response was 'thanks for ruining next years season kirk.'
Open mouth, insert foot, shut the fuck up, and go home.
Hoyt,
I'm quite sure if your season is ruined, it won't be because of Kirk Herbsriet.
Neither the Gators or the Rebels were playing their best ball in that 31-30 Rebel lovefest.
Urban Meyer made statements early in the season about his desire to take more of the heavy burden off Tebow's back he was carrying last season, and getting the ball more into the hands of his speedsters.
He was in the process of doing just that when Ole Miss came to town, not to mention dealing with a banged up O-line. This played right into the hands of a talented Ole Miss D-line.
Also, that big pass play to Shay Hodge was the result of Florida's DB's missed assignment, while playing young players at the DB positions.(same position developement going on there as there was with offensive skill positions)
None of them are playing that sub-par at this time. Just ask OU.
Even on this very blog site, Ghost mentioned the fact that the Gators let Arkansas hang around for 3 qrs for some reason in the very next game. That was the last sub-par game they played.
Granted, Ole Miss is playing much better ball at this time too, but I would also argue the point the Rebels came much closer to playing their best game, compared to the Gators playing their best game.
What would that score resemble today if they were to play again in the Swamp?
Nutt gets way too much credit.
Ole Miss beat the Gators because their young guys weren't ready, your previous staff's recruiting skills left you with good talent, and your present HC has good cheerleading skills. (motivation)
That's a combination of 3 different correlations, by the way.
As I've stated in the past, Nutt is very, very lucky to have a kid like Snead handed to him.(not his recruit)
Nutt's record with developing QBs is absolutely terrible, and he has a long history of QBs tranferring to other programs. (Surely you didn't believe M. Mustain was the only one did you?)
Ever heard of Gary Brashears? How about Tavarous Jackson?(Vikings)
If Raymond Cotton commits to Ole Miss, it won't be because of Nutt's stellar record of helping QBs get to the next level.
If Snead goes down next season to injury, and Cotton isn't there, what then? McCluster?
Keep an eye on the QB recruits Nutt brings in over the next few years. You'll hate GonzoHog even more when you see the truth for youself.
@ Gonzo,
It's a good thing that Nutt isn't given the assignment of developing QBs. We leave that to our Rhodes Scholar OC/QB Coach. He's brilliant and very good at what he does. You can see Snead's progression through the season due to Kent Austin (who Snead calls the best coach he has ever played for).
Also, We just finished red shirting a QB named Nathan Stanley who had somewhere around 10 BCS offers coming out of high school. I've personally seen the guy (in practice mind you), and he can sling the ball. I'm thrilled to have him waiting in the wings.
To follow up on the Nathan Stanley comment, I would simply like to say that Stanley throws the deep ball as well as anyone out there. Whiskey Wednesday and I attended several practices and had to pick our jaws up off of the ground after some of his tosses. He's got an excellent skillset, we've just got to hope that, when it's his turn to run the offense, he's got his head screwed on tightly enough to do so.
