Then he's out of Fayetteville and then in Texas. Phillips obviously doesn't have a clue about the Horns-Hog rivalry and the fact that Texas would never look at hiring away an Arkansas head man. For those that say Petrino will leave and take another job, I ask where? It's obvious the NFL isn't going to take a chance on the guy again, so you can rule that out. Arkansas is paying the man near $3 million a year, there is only a handful of schools in the NCAA that could come close to outbidding Tyson, Jerry Jones, and Wal Mart money. Those that can offer more money or a better job aren't going to put up with the media bashing it would take by hiring Petrino?So, you're essentially using the "our coach is a money-hungry, prideful, untrustworthy sleaze who is despised by the media" argument to prove your point. Petrino will have a good coaching career in Fayetteville. It won't happen right away due to a lack of great players left from the previous staff, but when it comes the media will take notice. It might even have a few guys like Don Banks standing up and yelling Woo Pig Sooie.

Actually, I'd wager that the reason Petrino left Atlanta is that he didn't want to ruin his reputation as a decent coach, and didn't so much like running with the big boys and sucking at his job. So, if he flounders for a year or two at Arkansas, guess what he might do?

We have also been to the college world series since we joined the SEC, while Ole Miss's last one was 1964. Football is the only sport in which Ole Miss can even make an argument with Arkansas on history. Ole Miss's heyday in football is the 60's...Arkansas was the third winningest team of the 60's, with the longest win streak of the decade. Arkansas has one national title (1964) 13 national titles, and has won or tied atop the SEC West 4 times. Ole Miss has one national title (1960), 6 conference championships, and tied for the West crown once. So, realistically, we even have you in football.
Again, we are 5th in NCAA history in national championships with 41 (two more pending), and Ole Miss has never won an NCAA national championship in ANY SPORT in over 100 years. Nice.
