Is Nutt Going Anywhere?

According to The Birmingham News, Auburn wants him. I remember hearing something about how he recently turned down the Tennessee job (I really don't know how true that is) and he and his family have really taken a liking to Oxford so I would imagine that Auburn's search would end up being for naught.

Your thoughts on this slow, painful Friday morning?

Yeah, if I were Nutt, I'd totally want to go head to head with Saban with inferior facilities and budget, a terrible group of quarterbacks, and an uninspiring stable of running backs. From a talent standpoint right now, Auburn is 7th or 8th in the conference at best, and Ole Miss is 5th at worst. Should be an easy decision, regardless of the money.

Didn't something just happen to the last coach they hired away from Ole Miss?

Anonymous said...

Fucking Auburn, find your own coach.

Anonymous said...

Boy, you guys are really blowing this one up aren't you?
How about we get the storie straight first?
First of all, Ghost only showed part of the story. (1st page)
Secondly, there were several other assistant coaches names in the hat, like Will Muschamp.

As far as the talent level goes for Ole Miss, you can thank your ex-coach for that.
As far as the talent level goes for Auburn, you can thank "jetgate" for the fact that they (Auburn officials) ruined a perfectly good recruiting class in '03, which a good portion happen to be 5th year SRs right now.
The fact that Ole Nutty is even being mentioned as a possible candidate for the HC vancancy, is nothing more than pure politics, which goes way back into his coaching days at the UofA.
Jimmy Sexton (Ole Nutty's agent) has been throwing Nutt's name around for years. LSU and Nebraska also come to mind as possible schools in the past, when that idiot really wasn't going anywhere.
That was just a ploy by Sexton to get Nutt's name out there.
With mediocra records at the UofA, who really believes those schools, as big a football name as they have, were really that interested?

Besides, I don't think Cody Burns or Lee Ziemba want to play for Nutt anyway, considering they left the state to get better coaching.
It's really nice to know the recruiting failures of Nutt are in the past.

GO HOGS GO!!!!! and FUCK YOU NUTT!!!!!
I remember Ole Nutty talking about recruiting picking up after the 2000 Cotton Bowl, just like he's doing right now. I wonder if it'll happen this time?

Gonzohog said things. I will analyze them.

"there were several other assistant coaches names in the hat"

Nobody suggested that Nutt was the only candidate.

"That was just a ploy by Sexton to get Nutt's name out there."

You mean an agent was *gasp* doing his job?! Say it isn't so, Gonzohog! Agents represent and promote their clients in order to pursue financial and career advancements. What Sexton is doing is not in any way unusual or nefarious.

"Besides, I don't think Cody Burns or Lee Ziemba want to play for Nutt anyway"

If you think athletic directors give a flying fuck about what two players (one of whom being a shitrageous quarterback) think then you're sadly mistaken. Of course, you Hogs let Mitch Mustain's bellyaching to an AD drive you all crazy so, perhaps I should have assumed you'd say something like that.

Anonymous said...

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Nutt's agent, Jimmy Sexton, is one of those guys who likes to float his clients' names into the mix with just about any job.

When he was at Arkansas, Nutt's name would mysteriously pop up in association with pretty much any job opening...probably whether he was actually interested or not.

Bottom line - I'd be really, really surprised if Nutt left a pretty good situation at Ole Miss for a pretty crazy one at Auburn, even if Auburn does have a higher national profile.

Does the Auburn AD have Ed Orgeron's number handy?

Bob said...

Razorback Expats,

I think it's in our collective best interests to get Eddie O on the plains as a head coach. It would take some serious, serious work but, if accomplished, we both could mark the Auburn game as "W's" on our calendars.

Anonymous said...

Ghost of Jay -

I totally agree. Let's set up www.hireorgeron.com and then sit back and watch the groundswell of popular support build up to epic proportions.

Anonymous said...

The same Mitch Mustain that was a part of kicking the shit out of #2 Auburn, at Auburn, 2 years ago? Naw, that shouldn't bother anyone who's never had that kind of a problem before.
It also doesn't suprise me that my comments are always twisted around to sound like something inferior was said.
If you don't like the truth, no problem, but it doesn't change anything.
Could it be that I used such vile and crude language against someone's coach or university, much like the administrators of this blog do.

Ohhhh, the shame!!!

Anonymous said...

Nutt would never leave us after one year. He's already told sources today that he has no interest in leaving. We should prob. just bump up his budget in our own interest.

Hunter said...

I have inside information suggesting that GonzoHog is, in fact, Jemele Hill.

Anonymous said...

Suprise! I'm actually Diana Nutt.

Bob said...

Kicking Auburn's ass? He threw for 87 yards and 1 touchdown in that game. Yeah, he really fucked 'em good. One of his 10 passes was a 50 yard completion (the lone touchdown I am assuming).

You beat them by 17. They only scored 10 points. If Mitch Mustain hadn't have taken a single snap Arkansas would have still won that game.

Auburn is close to finishing the deal with Leach.

Who would have thought that Arkansas fans still don't like Houston Nutt? I'm glad they can come to Ole Miss blogs to make sure everyone still knows.

Chris Peterson to State. While it's not official, this blog did, in fact, break the Kiffin to UT story before ESPN so they've got credibility.

Ghost,

What part of "part of" did you not understand?
Do stats alway's tell the Tale? or could it be that as a Fresh. QB, Mustain was pretty impressive with his cool and confidence in front of a hostile, soldout crowd, taking every snap, not to mention not throwing any interceptions early in the season.
Boy, now that should be something the Ole Miss faithful aren't used to.

Arkansas fans hate for Nutt is something Rebel fans will only learn in time.
Most of them deserve a lot better, they just can't comprehend it yet.

GonzoHog,
Reading your posts makes my skin crawl, and it's not simply because of your idiotic statements. First, it's spelled "story", not "storie". Second, what is a "mediocra"? Did you mean, perhaps, "mediocre"? Also, how about doing a little bit of research on what you write about in your posts? The quarterback's name is Kodi, not Cody. You are pathetic, and Dickson Street sucks.

Mr. Shuler Goes to Washington said...

I'm a jackass? Because I have a command of the English language, or because I don't misspell the names of those people I mention in my posts? Which one is it Patridge?

Hunter said...

If State does get Petersen, he better teach his wide receivers how to run on turf. Was that a cheap shot? Probably. But State fans will be able to take solace in the fact that we can't make fun of Petersen... yet.

Anonymous said...

Mr. Shuler, I was talking about Gonzo hog. Y'all jumped in a little faster than expected, but yes your command of the english langauge is outstanding :)

Hayden Hodges said...

Mr. Shuler and Patridge,

First of all, Shuler's command of the English language lacks a little bit. When you use quotation marks on a word that has a punctuation mark following it the second quotation mark comes after the punctuation mark. That is all for Grammar School.

As for Nutt, everyone knows that Sexton shops Nutt's name out there to get a raise/more money on a regular basis; that's his job.

Seriously, how would you Ole Miss fans feel had Nutt bolted for Auburn and more money?

Anonymous said...

Gonzo, we are quite well aware of who Jimmy Sexton is and what Jimmy Sexton does you stupid fuck.

By the way, "Ole Nutty" is the gayest shit I've seen on the internet in at least a day or two. You are lame.

Anonymous said...

Gonzo, you stupid fuck, that ass-kicking the Hogs gave Auburn that year was because of the running game. (you know, running game, that phenomenon you bunch of rubes bitched about because Lord Cumstain's talent was being wasted by handing the ball off)

Anonymous said...

It's redicules how these guys get off on grammer, when foofball is the subject.
"Oooohh, you make my my skin crawl with that bad grammer"
Give it a break. If You can't make someone else look stupid without making yourself look stupid first, then what's the point?

So now that you more superior intellectually gifted people have made it known that your completely satisfied with a quik fix as a HC, rather than take a serious look at the future, maybe some of you would like to wager a small bet of "bragging rights" for next season.

Here's the bet:

Arkansas will have a better record than Ole Miss next season. Any takers?

Anonymous said...

You've fucking lost it. Houston Nutt would have had y'all bowling this year and you know it. Petrino will fail; make no mistake. What's the bet hillbilly?

Anonymous said...

recruiting rankings are garbage. While petrino is "rebuilding" your team y'all will be distracted with how great the recruiting rankings are and wish well for the future. We just got done doing exactly what you are doing right now.

Anonymous said...

Watching Nutt's team decline over the next 2 years, will be like watching a terd get flushed down the toilet with Ole Piss.

Bob said...

"We were told the past ten years they don't matter. I just don't believe that anymore."

We were told for the past three that they do. Perhaps you can see why we're burnt out on "ruhcrootin." Yellow Tail, you are correct in that they are important. Every organization (football team, company, fraternity, etc) must bring in fresh, new members. It's just that the Brent Schaeffers of the world cause us to think twice about the significance of little yellow stars.

Anonymous said...

Sorry turd,

I guess i'm just not as long-winded as you are.

I've never been to Dewitt, and guys my age never use the word Dude, much less in the same sentence with the word coherent.

Why don't you go back to your own home town and shut the fuck up?

Anonymous said...

cruising sonic sounds fun

Anonymous said...

Ghost,

Trusting the coaches to evaluate talent, along with putting the right emphasis on team need, are just as important as the "little yellow stars", so yes, your right about that.

It'll be interesting to see what type of talent Nutt brings to the table in the next few years, at the QB and WR positions, and how willing he is to use them.

History says not much.

Anonymous said...

Yellow Tail,

I'm really not sure who shit on your side of the bed this morning, but i'm pretty damn sure it wasn't my fault, and if there's one shining example of anything that's been said between the two of us, it's that you are one smug son of a bitch!

Now I understand that in your little world, it takes a real man to put his thought process to a keyboard in certain manner for all the people to see, but in my world, I was taught to put a fist down a smartasses throat before he could spit out another word of garbage.

If you must know where I live, it's in Greenwood, AR.

I know where the sonic is, if you need directions.

Anonymous said...

yeah.....we told you this was coming..raising his skirt to every team available. Have fun.
We told you so.

Bob said...

Hog Fan,

Here's what you don't get: we don't have a real problem with him "raising his skirt" to available teams. Do you have a career? Have you ever used a potential move or promotion to obtain better career opportunities? This shit happens ALL OF THE TIME. You all act like every little thing Houston Nutt has ever done is pure evil.

GET. OVER. HIM.

Hayden Hodges said...

So, Ghost, did you see my question in all of that scramble?

I would seriously like to know what impact (through the fans' eyes and the program in general) it would have on your program if in fact Nutt did leave for Auburn. Thanks.

Anonymous said...

Hayden Hodges, those of us "in the loop" in Oxford understand that Nutt seized an opportunity today to nip a major pain in his ass in the bud. That pain is Pete Boone. And, before you start throwing around shit about Nutt causing controversy or problems, this isn't about Nutt. It's about our incompetent, small-minded AD. It's so bad that Nutt, Bianco and Kennedy all went to the Chancellor together to address the problem a few weeks ago. It's so bad that Bruce Feldman (who spent a year in Oxford for his book, Meat Market) was on ESPN today and said Pete Boone runs our football program like a Sunbelt Conf. program.

It wasn't just about the money. Nutt is now the most powerful man in Oxford and he used that power for the betterment of our program today. I thank God we have someone with the clout to put Boone in his place finally.

To answer your question, I'll need to put it in context. Had Nutt left and gone to Auburn, it wouldn't have had shit to do with salaries. It would have had everything to do with Pete Boone breathing down his neck and harassing his assistant coaches. If this had happened, a significant amount of Khayat's athletic and academic donors would have revolted and cut off the money until Boone was either fired or forced to resign. That's what would have happened.

Anonymous said...

Do any of you hog fans seriously wan to bet who will win more games next year? That is a joke. We will beat the shit out of you in Oxford on our way to 8 or 9 wins. Arkansas will suck yet again.

Anonymous said...

Yes, I definately want that bet.
Anyone who knows anything about colege football shouldn't be afraid of it either.
I've only seen a couple of responses so far, which is very suprising for this blog. I exspected more.

As far as there being a bright sunny day in Alma, Russleville, or any other town for that matter, is is nothing more than the exspected, but not suprising retoric, of a very gutless and little man.
Everyone knows that now.

Anonymous said...

Oh exscuse me, I meant Russellville and said "is" twice.

Doesn't that just make your skin crawl?

Anonymous said...

No, but that thing your Mom does with her tongue sure does the trick.

Anonymous said...

Swine,

Recruiting was just one of Cut's downfalls. His inability to keep a decent staff together played a major role as well. Now, I'm not faulting him for so many of his original assistants leaving for jobs in the NFL. The problem was he replaced them with incompetent, inexperienced coaches that played for him at UT. And, in his six years in Oxford, Cut never hired a decent DC.

This may sound surprising, but sans Eli, that 2003 wouldn't hold a candle to this year's Rebels. There's more talent, speed and depth across the board on this squad.

In fairness, I think a lot of us have decided Cut's lethargic recruiting and staffing decisions stemmed from his poor health. The man was very sickly his last few years at Ole Miss.

At any rate, I can promise you we haven't camped out on Duke boards the way some of your fans have done with every us and Nutt. It's not just this blog. It's Nafoom. It's Scout. It's Rivals. It's EDSBS. It's every comments section on every single article that so much as mentions Houston Nutt on any website, blog, etc. Surely some of you understand how obsessive this appears to the rest of us.

Anonymous said...

Yellow Tail,

Your obviously a lot smaller than you think.

The word "small" can also be used in reference to the quality of character that a person possesses.

Knowone is saying your so-called "skill" makes you gutless. Only your adolesent arrogance.

What makes it a dark, dark day, is when someone that refers to himself as a so-called man, actually has to "talk" a good fight.

Your 13 years of amature boxing mean absolutely nothing in a real fight with no rules or referees.

If you were really just taking up for your "friends", then you should have just made that clear in the beginning, instead of acting like your promoting yourself for the "prick of the day award".
I would have had much, much more respect for that type of "professionalism".

Now surely you can understand that much can't you?

Gonzo,
You were delirious this summer when you "low-balled" your prediction for the razorbacks at 6-6 during an exchange with Ghost.
You are still delirious if you believe ya'll are going to win more games than the Rebels next year.
Have fun celebrating New Years in the middle of nowhere.

How dare Nutt run the ball so much when he had two first round runnning backs! What an idiot! Why would a coach continue to put the ball in the hands of his two best players?

Anonymous said...

I agree JaxReb. You might as well hand the ball off when there's no passing game.

Anonymous said...

Shit man, you were talking about how great Mitch Mustain was in that game and how he whipped ass.
